Scholar’s Strike

We are forwarding this information regarding a scholar's strike on September 9th and 10th in hopes that you will stand in solidarity with them. Academics in Canada are planning to stand in solidarity for racial justice by pausing their regular teaching and administrative duties to participate in activities in support of racial justice.
There will be virtual teach-ins planned, and understanding the precariousness of some of our colleagues, there are many different ways to participate including communicating the message on social media or using the virtual teach-ins in classes. More information regarding the actions in the scholar's strike are located at https://scholarstrikecanada.ca/
Local 556 calls on college administration to support and not penalize any faculty, staff, or students who choose to participate in the scholar strike activities.
In solidarity,
Tom Tomassi, President
